We've been several times for lunch as it is handy for the University. Service is always attentive and food is excellent. Lots to choose from on the menu. Appreciate that it is also dog friendly. Easy to book a table in advance online too.
Really excellent food and service, great atmosphere, will definitely visit again. Booked a table for dinner on a Saturday night - If I hadn't pre booked we'd have had no hope - the place was really buzzing, it was warm, comfortable and friendly - exactly what we had hoped for. We had a big table near the fireplace and the waiter was quick at hand for everything sorting our drinks and taking our orders. The food was amazing - the menu really has something for everyone, the portions are really generous I felt it was incredibly good value and proper homemade hearty grub. I can imagine coming back for a Sunday roast when the fire is lighting on a cold winter afternoon - it will be hard to leave!
Stayed for a nearby wedding, so the location was only relevant to that and it was ideal. Service was excellent, especially from Julie, who seems to do pretty much everything! The room was clean and tidy, with plenty of teas & coffee. Towels in the bathroom were superb, but if you're not going to provide shower gel etc., it would have been useful to know that in advance. Happy to recommend and would certainly use again if in the area.
We stayed two nights.
Our room wasn't expensive, but we thought it would be clean. Instead the carpet was dirty and there was mould in the shower and bathroom. The shower was so small that you couldn't help touching the sides, however you moved, you touched the mould and grim!
The guy who checked us in was not warm and welcoming.
We were woken up one night by someone banging on the main entrance door to the accommodation. A few minutes later they were banging on our window. Someone must have let them in because a little while later they tried to open the door to our room. There was no staff around in the morning when we checked out so, we couldn't report it.
Would never stay there again. In fact had friends booked there for later in the year, and have recommended they cancel.
Rooms small, tired, dated and filthy.
Breakfast made to order and lovely.
Young restaurant waitress staff friendly.
Bus directly outside for 35 minute trip to Edinburgh.
I would not stay here again due to the lack of cleanliness in the bedroom and ensuite shower room.
I've had dinner here three times now. The food is always great and the servers are kind! It is always very loud inside though.
Stopped by after a walk in the Pentlands and had a great experience! Warm ambiance, great food and decent prices. Also good service and dog friendly. Will definitely be back if in the area!
Lovely location just outside the hustle and bustling city, not too long of a drive into the city either. The staff were friendly and the room was lovely and cosy. The bed was amazing and overall had a great weekend away. I’d definitely stay here again!
